How to Knit

I've decided that I want to learn to knit. I'm 98.4% sure that I do not possess any of the required patience to knit. Heck, I have trouble counting sometimes.

But I want to do it.

So can anyone recommend a good, how-to, knitting for dummies type book? I have never picked up a knitting needle in my entire life, so I'm talking VERY basic here. If you learned from one, or know of a good book (or youtube video you'd recommend) let me know!

  1. Haha! I'm *just* starting. My MIL showed me a little bit over Thanksgiving weekend. I got a "learn to knit" kit for $15 or so at ACMoore. But yeah, my next step was going to be online instructions. Let me know what you turn up....

  2. OK... I know it sounds dorky... but you know those crafts books for kids? "Klutz" books? I learned to knit from one of those. And bonus: it came with the yarn and the knitting needles. :)

  3. I found one of those "I tought myself knitting" kits at Wal-Mart for about $12. It comes with needles and a few accessories and a book with illustrations (and left-handed directions too). It helped get me started, but I don't know that I'll ever try to knit anything more than a scarf.
